Mahim Dargah trustee and WAQF board member booked for rape; Mumbai Police is not arresting the accused

In an unprecedented turn of events, a rape case has been registered at the Mahim police station on Friday against Doctor Muddassir Lambe, a trustee of Peer Makhdum Saheb Charitable Trust, Mahim. Lambe is also a member of the WAQF board.

A 33-year-old woman alleged that the accused allegedly raped her in his clinic in January last year. The incident occurred on January 28 last year, however, the accused Doctor had promised to marry her, and hence she did not lodge a complaint till October.

The Mahim police have registered an offense of rape, criminal intimidation, and causing hurt by means of poison under IPC sections 376, 328, and 506.

The Woman stated that the accused Doctor used to administer an injection which made her semiconscious and allegedly raped her. The accused also threatened her with dire consequences and miseries if she revealed it to anyone.

The victim is a social worker in Mahim and her husband had divorced her after learning about the incident. Recently her video went viral in which she was threatening to commit suicide if denied justice.

Mumbai Police is reluctant to arrest him, due to political pressure and ‘secularism’. The alleged criminal is a trustee of Mahim Dargah and a member of the WAQF board, hence Mumbai police are not putting any effort to arrest him.
