After being reelected to power with the thumping majority in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections with 303 seats surprassing its earlier tally of 282 seats in 2014 parliamentary elections, Bharartiya Janta party (BJP) has emerged as pan India national party in the country.
The meteoric rise of the party from 2 seats in 1984 to 86 seats in 1989, 119 seats in 1991 and emerging as largest party the country in the country in 1996 elections with 161 seats and retaining the tag by winning 182 seats in 1998 & 1999 LokSabha Elections. This helped the party form coalition NDA government under the leadership of Late.Shri Atal Bihari Vajapayee and the party remained in power for six years.
However the party suffered surprise defeat in 2004 Elections with the “India Shining” campaign being the casuality and the party ended up winning 138 seats and Congress emerged as largest party with 145 seats. In 2009 Lok Sabha Elections BJP under listless leadership of L.K Advani faltered badly with the party winning 116 seats and Congress under Sonia Gandhi won 206 seats with the party winning 21 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
And the state which has historically been the key to power in India is Uttar Pradesh with its 80 parliamentary seats. The electoral fortunes of BJP being in power is interwined by the party performance in the northern Indian state. The party won over 50 seats in 1989 elections and repeated the similar performance in 1991 Elections and gaining in the state of Madhya Pradesh to improve its tally to 119 seats. The party doubled its votershare to 20% in 1991 Lok Sabha Elections and out of 480 seats contested it emerged as second in 130 seats.
Riding on the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and consolidation of Hindu votes the saffron party continued winning two thirds seats in Uttar Pradesh in 1996 and 1998 as well emerging as the largest party. While BJP formed the government in 1999 under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajapayee the party retaining 182 seats the party suffered the setback in Uttar Pradesh when it won 29 seats with 27.64% percentage of the votes polled.
In the 2004 Lok Sabha Elections the party slogan of “India Shining” failed horribly and the party was voted out of power due to complacency of party leaders in power. The party lost due to neglect of the organization and drifting away from the core goals. The relationship between BJP and RSS soured since the Sangh was not happy with the handling of Ram Mandir issue by the government. And the party paid heavy price winning just 10 seats in 2004 elections with 22.17% vote share.
Like Atal Bihari Vajapayee, Advani wanted to shun his Hindutva hardline image and project a soft and moderate image of him as a leader of a party and in 2005 he praised Jinnah by calling . And this alienated the hardcore voters of BJP further as they never expected the leader of Advani stature with impeccable Hindu credentials could commit blunder. And few years later in 2009 Jaswant Singh, who held finance & external affairs portfolio in the Vajapayee Cabinet was expelled for praising the founder of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This costed the party dearly in Uttar Pradesh particulary with the vote share of party plumetted to 17.5% in 2009 with the party winning ten seats.
And in 2013 when BJP declared Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate for 2014 Lok Sabha Elections the importance of Uttar Pradesh being key to power at the Centre was realized. And Narendra Modi entrusted this task to his close aide Amit Shah. Under his supervision as BJP in charge of Uttar Pradesh affairs during the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Shah delivered 73 of 80 seats in the state with 42.3% of voteshare & 282 seats at the Centre with absolute majority.
Being organizational man since joining BJP in early 1990s, he is humble, modest, soft spoken & brilliant orator. He also adopted innovative strategies of campaigning, understanding the importance of social media, stiching up alliances with regional leaders. And being the Modi pointsman and confidant he was elevated as Party President post elections to ensure that the Union Government and BJP work in tandem like a well-oiled machine.
And the superlative performance continued in 2017 with the party winning overwhelming three-quarter majority of 325 seats with popular vote percentage of 41.63%. And the #TheMonkFromGorakhpur MYogiAdityanath known for his hardline stand against Pakistan was nominated as Chief Minister. And in 2019 the organizational man of BJP Amit Shah again delivered outsmarting the Mahagathbandhan of Samajwadi Party & Bahujan Samaj Party with carefully crafted strategy & meticulous planning won 62 out of 80 seats with 50% vote share and ensured clear majority for BJP at Centre again. In the recently concluded By-elections the party won six out of seven seats and clearly the #TheMonkofGorakhpur is expected to win the 2022 assembly elections.
After the careful analysis its evident that the key to BJP revival in the country is through Uttar Pradesh which gives thrust to BJP campaign PAN India. And the core issues of BJP are vital for the consolidation of Hindu votes and growth of Sanatan Dharm across the world. And with the #TheMonkofGorakhpur at helm the core Hindutva value systems will not be diluted. Also the abrogation of Article 370 by Home Minister Amit Shah and laying of foundation stone of Ram Janma Bhoomi temple by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi the days are not far when Uniform Civil Code will be introduced for all religions.
The consolidation of Hindu voters has not gone unnoticed, with Billionaire George Soros pledging One Billion Dollars to fight against the Hindu Nationalist State under Narendra Modi. And the Christo-Islamic-Jehadi Break India forces are upping ante against the Narendra Modi Govt. And its time for Hindu Nationalist to be united against devious plans of the anti nationals and affirm their faith in the charismatic leadership of Modi, Shah & Yogi, who are working tirelessly towards making India as global power Internationally in the days to come.
